We decided at short notice, that we needed some Vitamin Sunshine to get us through our first chilly Sydney winter. After a little bit of research we concluded that beautiful Bali would be our destination of choice – its affordable, flights from Sydney were only 6 and a half hours and we didn’t need a visa (we both have South African passports).
Jenna (the Blonde) loves planning overseas trips months in advance, this gives her time to choose the best hotel within budget and research exactly what we need to do and see. But this time things were a little different and by the time we left, we had only booked our first 2 nights accommodation. However, we could not have picked a better hotel.
We knew we wanted to stay in Seminyak, so we jumped straight onto booking.com and managed to find an awesome boutique hotel called Tijili in Seminyak – about a 5 minute walk from Seminyak beach. Tijili is a new hotel that has been open for less than 2 years but they seem to have gotten everything right.
We had organised a hotel transfer and were picked up by Dedi who works for Tijili and looked after us during our stay. Dedi was extremely friendly and provided us with some useful information about Bali and encouraged us to ask him more questions if we had any. The hotel is about a 30 minute drive from the airport, which was really convenient for us because our flight only landed at 10:20pm.
When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted with more big Balinese smiles in the hotel lobby where we were checked in and shown to our room. The entire hotel is beautifully designed with loads of colour, funky furniture and decor in every room making it totally Instagrammable!
We booked a Deluxe room for only AU$67 a night on booking.com, the rooms are a good size and have: a comfortable king size bed, a flat screen, desk, wardrobe, safe, bathroom with rain shower, bar fridge, 24 hour room service and an in-room alarm system that beeps if you forget to close the door.
The pool, restaurant and bar are all open plan and located on the ground floor next to the lobby. We loved spending time at the pool and felt like it was an oasis amongst the chaos of Seminyak and spent most of our time at the hotel here, sunbathing, swimming and sipping on cocktails.
Breakfast is served in the dining room/bar area located next to the swimming pool. The breakfast buffet was included in our accommodation price and had a variety of options. We both really enjoyed the waffles and deep-fried bananas with maple syrup, luckily we did enough walking around Seminyak to work this all of.
The staff at Tijili were great, always smiling and always willing and ready to help with what ever we needed. We loved our stay here and would highly recommend it if you need somewhere to stay in Seminyak that is close enough to everything, yet a peaceful retreat.
