One of the best things about living in Sydney is that there are SO many restaurants to choose from! We were looking for something different for date night and came across the Spice Alley, a hawker style eatery in Chippendale. It is located 1km from Central Station in Kensington street, so it’s super easy to get to.
We were pleasantly surprised by what we found, paved alley ways, with string lanterns across courtyards, beautiful murals and 6 hawker style eateries to choose from. All the eateries serve Asian cuisine from various countries: Singaporean, Thai, Malaysian, Cantonese, Japanese and Vietnamese.
We found a table and then went to order something different from each eatery. Each place has a different menu with a large variety of things to choose from. We shared everything which meant we were able to taste many different dishes. Everything we ate was delicious and tasty and really well priced. There is only one restaurant that is licensed to sell alcohol, so they offer BYO – we brought our own bottle of wine and some glasses. In ‘Sydney terms’ Spice Alley works out to be a cheap date night! 🙂
Once we polished off our plates, we headed over to KOI Dessert Bar (not to be missed!) for dessert, it is conveniently located next to the Spice Alley. KOI is the brainchild of Reynold from Masterchef Australia (2015). The desserts were delicious and an excellent way to end off a lovely evening.
